Celebrating the Resilient Women of Afghanistan on International Women's Day

On March 8th, AGHO proudly celebrated International Women’s Day by honoring the strength, courage and creativity of Afghan women. We marked this important day with a special gift – a beautiful painting created by talented female artists from Afghanistan. The painting was presented to Ms. Liah Jawad, a tireless advocate for women’s rights who has worked with numerous international and national organizations since 1984. Ms. Jawad officially founded the organization Feminine Solidarity for Justice, serving as a leader in the fight to empower women and promote gender equality in Afghanistan.

At AGHO, we have immense respect and admiration for women like Ms. Jawad who have dedicated their lives to uplifting other women despite facing immense challenges and adversity. The vibrant painting given to Ms. Jawad symbolizes the resilience, determination and artistic expression of Afghan women. On this International Women’s Day, AGHO reaffirms our commitment to supporting and empowering women in Afghanistan. We celebrate the achievements of Afghan women past and present, while recognizing the critical importance of continuing to protect their basic human rights and create opportunities for education, employment and leadership roles.

Through initiatives like our International Women’s Day celebration, we hope to raise awareness and inspire ongoing advocacy for the courageous women of Afghanistan. We are proud to use our platform to amplify their voices and stories. Join us in building a more just, equitable world where Afghan women can truly thrive.
